2nd Annual Dance-a-thon Fundraiser

River Region Human Services is hosting its 2nd annual dance-a-thon fundraiser on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Demure Banquet Hall, located at 9400 -92 Atlantic Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida.  The goal of the dance-a-thon is to solicit pledges and donations that will be used to purchase back-to-school supplies and materials for low income, at-risk children in the Jacksonville community.

Many of these children begin the school year lacking the basic school supplies such as pencils, paper, notebooks, backpacks, flash drives, poster board, calculators, and other essential items.  For some children, not having these supplies often contributes to incomplete assignments, overdue projects, disruptive behavior as well as unexcused absences.  Last year, the dance-a-thon raised enough funds to provide more than 120 children with backpacks filled with school supplies.  This year’s goal is to support the needs of 200 children.

Dance participants receive financial contributions from supporters such as family, friends and businesses by pledging to dance for the duration of the dance-a-thon.  Other support is received through the food sampling luncheon.  For $20.00 ($15.00 advance ticket), supporters enjoy samples of delicious food and beverages from local food vedors.

If you would like to help these children have a successful and productive 2015-16 school year, please contact Tina Clayton at 904.899.6300 or tclayton@rrhs.org to make a financial contribution or to purchase a ticket for the luncheon.
