Education Now and Babies Later (ENABL)

The ENABL program focus is to teach Abstinence Only Education to Duval County youth aged 9-14 through the “Managing Pressures Before Marriage”  curriculum. There are training sessions for youth and for parents.  The series teaches youth through the combined use of video segments and activities about:

·        The risk of early sexual involvement

·        Social & peer pressure

·        Developing positive life goals & relationships

·        Assertive refusal techniques

The program teaches about the consequences of early pregnancy, encourages responsible decision making and uses role playing to teach youth how to reject sexual advances and how alcohol and drug use increases their vulnerability.

The ENABL educational series is offered at no cost to all organizations,
including faith-based and community groups.

Youth, whenever possible, are taught by Peer Educators aged 15-18 years old who have received 30 hours of Abstinence Only Education training in the “MPBM” curriculum.

Program goals:

·        To reduce the teen pregnancy rate among females 15-17 years old.

·        To reduce the rate of sexual activity in adolescents  under  17 years old.

·        To reduce the incidence of adolescents 15-19 years old who have  contracted Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).
