Testing and Services for HIV/AIDS at River Region

River Region’s AIDS Outreach Department provides many educational and testing services to the Jacksonville community

  • Free and confidential HIV testing
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Pre- and post-test counseling
  • Risk/reduction assessments
  • Referrals to substance abuse services
  • Mental health services
  • Referrals for medical treatment
  • HIV/AIDS educational classes


Counseling, Testing and Referral (CTR) Program

CTR is designed to increase an individual’s knowledge of their HIV status, encourage and support risk reduction, and provide referrals for medical, social, prevention, and partner services.  Participants learn:

  • the benefits and consequences of HIV testing
  • the risks for HIV transmission and prevention
  • the types of HIV antibody tests available/used; meaning of test results
  • the importance of obtaining test results and explicit procedures;
  • where to obtain more information or other services such as medical, mental health, or substance abuse
