Margaret Ghee: FADAA Professional of the Year

At River Regions retreat this past summer, Margaret Ghee, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, was recognized as the agencys Counselor of the Year. But that wasnt enough for Margaret, who has been with River Region for six years and who manages the Dual Diagnosis Day Treatment Program. At the 2001 Annual Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association Convention, Margaret was recognized as a Regional Professional of the Year. Can national recognition be far behind?

Margaret says, The conference validated the work were doing in Dual Diagnosis here at River Region. Professionals working in Substance Abuse Treatment agree that fifty to ninety percent of all people with substance abuse problems also have mental health problems that need to be addressed. More and more people are coming to realize that its not practical to treat clients for Substance Abuse without addressing their mental health at the same time. It has been great to be part of a supportive agency, like River Region, where people are dedicated to helping clients live better lives. Winning a few awards this year has been great, but I cant take all the credit. I want to thank all the people here at River Region who have supported me and who are continually working to make life better for our clients.
