Medication Assisted Treatment

More About MAT

MAT treatment consists of methadone, suboxone, vivitrol, and antabuse, which are synthetic drugs used in the treatment of opiate dependence/alcohol for individuals in River Region’s MAT program.

It helps reduce accidental overdose and suppresses cravings and withdrawals from opioid dependency.

MAT is extremely beneficial in the successful treatment of opiate dependency.

Benefits of MAT

MAT is safe and legal and all medication is prescribed by a physician.

MAT reduces the risk of getting HIV, hepatitis B or C, and tuberculosis.

Patient’s lifestyle, family stability and employment are significantly improved.

Pregnant women receiving MAT have healthier babies than those who continue to use drugs.

MAT increases the rate of success and reduces the likelihood of relapse.
